Objective: The Electric & Hydrogen Vehicle Expo featured experiential learning opportunities that focused on the amazing world of Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEVs) and their charging infrastructure.

Edmonton is on a transformational path to become a climate resilient and low carbon city. While there are many components to creating this vision, transportation and mobility are front and center in shaping the future of Edmonton. This event offered the opportunity to learn more about electric vehicles, e-buses, hydrogen buses and micro-mobility options such as e-bikes and e-scooters.

In terms of attendance, the goal was to see 1,000 people come out to the event over the two days. In terms of exhibitors onsite, the goal was to secure 30 exhibitors.

Outcome: At the event, guests were able to take test drives of ZEVs, e-bikes and e-scooters. The layout included an outdoor test drive space and an indoor test track inside. Guests were able to connect with EV owners and specialists, learn about advances in EV technology and charging infrastructure and see the latest EV models.,

Our Education Stage featured seven unique sessions over the two days, hosted by experts in the field.

Sessions included:

  • Paving the Way – Making sustainable mobility choices
  • Making the Switch – Finding the right EV for your lifestyle
  • Driving the Change – Sustainable future of electric vehicles
  • Leading the Charge Power Panel – Home EV charging and connecting to solar power
  • Amp Up Your Career Power Panel – Opportunities in the electric and hydrogen vehicle fields
  • Living the Electric Dream – A day in the life of an EV owner
  • Charging on the Go Power Panel – Using public EV charging networks now and in the future

Of the 33 exhibitors onsite, a unique feature was The Mobile Electric Vehicle Trailer (MEET), an experience offered by Plug’n Drive. It is a hub for education on electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. MEET not only includes learning materials such as demonstration charging stations, it also involves interaction with EV experts and test drives of EV models.

A huge success, the event saw a total of 6,000 people come out over the two days.

This event is also the winner of the Education Achievement Award from the Transportation Association of Canada.
