2025 marks a celebratory year for Heat & Frost Insulators in Alberta: it’s the 75th anniversary of the trade’s union, Local 110. This called for a big, 600+ person party at the Edmonton Convention Centre with great food, drinks, and a ton of high-value prizes.
The evening started with a reception in the Hall D foyer, featuring custom decor pieces and screens displaying digitized photos from the past 75 years. The program was kicked off by a procession by The Brasstactics, heartfelt speeches, and an Indigenous Blessing, followed by a ceremonial pin presentation for long-standing members. To close off the program, over 70 names were drawn to win prizes. This excitement was followed by a dance party and live performance by The Counterfitz to end the night.
Some highlights of the night include:
- Decor
- Overall, the decor was industrial-themed, featuring plenty of copper and navy tones. The floral arrangements were incredibly popular and were all taken home by guests by the end of the night. Chain curtains hung behind the bars and the feature wall in the foyer had some mock pipe and insulation.
- Behind the check in desk was a feature wall with an inset screen that played over 2,700 photos on loop. These photos were taken from the past 75 years of the union’s existence. The foyer also had monitors displaying the photos, and they were shown on the mainstage screens over dinner.
- The photo booth backdrop was a custom-made replica of the statue that is outside of the Local 110 office in Edmonton. The statue was precisely to scale and mimicked every little detail of the real-life one.
- There were two lounges in Hall D with soft seating and custom branded cushions that the Local was able to take back afterwards for use.
- The stage design featured unique screen placement and scenic pieces that matched the rest of the event’s decor.
- Gifts and Prizes
- Each attendee received a gift bag that included items such as Yeti water bottles, stickers, and Esso gift cards.
- A total of 72 prizes were handed out, with some packages valued at over $10,000. These packages were curated by the Tycoon team and included trips to the Rocky Mountains, saunas, sports packages, BBQs, and even quads.
- Activations
- The photo booth was a huge hit, with confetti guns adding some fun to the backdrop of the Local 110 statue. Custom props were provided, including an on-theme salamander cut-out and fake construction equipment.
- In addition to the photo booth, a selfie bot rolled around the space, and was well loved by guests.
- The dance party went well into the night, with The Counterfitz even taking song requests from guests. Some people didn’t want to leave by the end – they had a great time!
