More than 700 people gathered online and in-person to support the Mental Health Foundation’s 17th Annual Hybrid Fundraising Breakfast. This year’s impactful program acknowledged the difficult reality: we all know someone who has been impacted by mental illness.

The goal of this signature event was to fundraise in support of programs that help those struggling with mental illness to receive the help and care that they need. Vulnerable storytelling from Keynote Speaker, Chris Cull, and community advocate, Sherri Stace, reminded attendees about the complexities that can arise when trying to support someone, and what can happen when systems aren’t set up to help people, even if it’s as simple as knowing what support resources are available.

With Tycoon’s support with event logistics, attendee registration, A\V and stage management, vendor management, virtual event management, and decor, the Mental Health Foundation was able to focus on their essential fundraising initiatives. With the support of in-person and online attendees, donations collected during the event tripled last year’s goal.

The Mental Health Foundation’s logo was intentionally included in decor elements that elevated the ambiance. Butterflies were creatively displayed to appear as though they were fluttering above each table number. Floral arrangements incorporated the logo’s colors, and a custom balloon arch was created as part of the photobooth backdrop to feature the presenting sponsor’s 75th anniversary logo.

The “We All Know Someone” campaign extended beyond the program with an interactive installation. Attendees were invited to write names and messages for someone they know on butterflies, then post them on pillars. These messages will later be displayed at Alberta Hospital, creating a meaningful reminder that the impact of the breakfast reaches far beyond the event itself.
