Objective: Dogs with Wings Dog Assistance Society hosts their largest annual fundraiser annually called the Raise Our Wings Gala.
The gala has several fundraising components and Tycoon was brought on to ensure the fundraiser ran smoothly, that guests were communicated with, and the gala felt cohesive with branding, sponsorship, decor and activities.
The goal was to bring in as much fundraising as possible and bring their cause to new audiences. We were anticipating 400 guests to enjoy a premium dinner, a private concert with Chantal Kreviaziuk, and all the puppies!
When planning a fundraiser of this scale, we had a lot to execute: sponsorship, decor, silent auction, live auction, 50/50 ticket sales, communications, accessibility, marketing, registration and staffing, etc. With Tycoon, we seek to surpass fundraising goals, not just meet them, so we had to be creative to give this event some edge.
Outcome: The event was a huge success, as Dogs with Wings was able to raise over $380,000 on event night!
To recap the night:
- 309 guests came to support the cause
- 70 items were donated and won at the silent auction, with over $18,000 raised through this one channel
- Over $4,000 was raised through the 50/50
- The live auction saw over $13,000 in funds raised
- 8 puppies were fully sponsored at $25,000 each (the cost of raising and training one service dog for 2 years)
Guests walked the black carpet towards the check in counter where they were greeted by Dogs with Wings staff. Upon receiving their program for the evening, attendees were encouraged to partake in the custom designed photo booth area and grab a drink from the bars. Guests also got a show, where the fully certified assistance dogs were showing off their skills. A harpist played during cocktail hour to provide some atmosphere.
In the main ballrooms, the stage was the main focus, being elaborately decorated with floral arrangements on the bottom, a custom gobo logo hung overhead with chandeliers, and of course, Chantal Kreviaziuks piano centered in the middle. The rest of the ballroom was used to showcase Giselle Denis’ live painting station and the expansive silent auction area.
Guests enjoyed a 3-course meal, wine at their tables, a presentation and speeches from past clients. Before the private concert with Chantal Kreviaziuk started, a live auction was held complete with a puppy parade!
Chantal’s performance captivated the audience as she performed and retold stories from her personal life. After her performance, she held a Meet and Greet for VIP’s and sponsors in her green room. In the meantime, the silent auction and 50/50 ended, so the rest of the guests collected their winnings and mingled.
Overall, the event was thoroughly enjoyed by attendees and a substantial amount of money was raised for Dogs with Wings to support their goal to ensure that the people that relied on their services could continue to be supported.
