MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR – INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR ROLE

Tycoon Events (“Tycoon”) is currently looking for an independent contractor who is interested in working with Tycoon on an ‘as needed’ basis for up to as many as 30 hours per week, depending upon workload, to assist in providing marketing and communication services, as well as supporting Tycoon’s various resources and special projects.

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will coordinate, execute, monitor, and measure Tycoon’s marketing and communications efforts under the direction of Eryne Sarabin, owner of Tycoon Events. The individual should be an excellent writer and have experience with social media, WordPress, and graphic design. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is energetic, meticulously organized, creative, and self-motivated to join our busy and dynamic team. This position requires an individual who has impeccable attention to detail, is a creative and critical thinker, and who can provide support in a timely and communicative manner.

The candidate can choose to work remotely and/or from Tycoon’s office, while adhering to current COVID-19 and AHS policies.

Responsibilities
Marketing and Communications

  • Help develop marketing campaigns for various programs and events.
  • Coordinate and execute newsletters in a timely manner while ensuring uniformity of content/messaging.
  • Help develop content for event campaigns.
  • Review and ensure quality of newsletter distribution lists.
  • Write blog posts, social media posts, articles, and marketing.
  • Tracks and reports email analytics.
  • Take the lead in analyzing and reporting newsletter metrics and take corrective action when needed.
  • Maintain and update Tycoon’s annual content and marketing strategic plans.


Website Management

  • Primary administrator of content management system (WordPress).
  • Work with staff and subject matter experts to develop relevant, meaningful content and maintain Tycoon’s content strategy and web standards.
  • Continuously improve the usability, design, and content of Tycoon’s website.
  • Perform quarterly audits of all website content and implement any updates to ensure all information is relevant, accurate, and current.
  • Monitor and report regularly on website analytics and take corrective action when needed.


Social Media

  • Coordinate and execute social media campaigns and ensure alignment with overall marketing campaign and Tycoon’s strategy and tone of voice.
  • Manage social media calendar and post valuable, shareable content regularly, ensuring Tycoon is positioned as an industry leader online.
  • Monitors and reports on social media outreach, including bi-weekly and monthly reporting.


Resources and Special Projects

  • Coordinate all special projects undertaken by Tycoon that position the company as a leader in the event industry. Examples include the Event Trends Annual Report, Holiday Event Guide, and more.
  • Maintain and manage the Virtual Event Resource.
  • Take the lead in analyzing and reporting newsletter metrics and take corrective action when needed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or marketing preferred.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in marketing or communications.
  • Previous experience in the event planning industry is considered an asset, though not required.
  • Excellent writing skills with an emphasis on writing for the web and social media.
  • Excellent project management experience.
  • Experience creating and managing critical paths.
  • Excellent professional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Highly driven and results oriented.
  • High level of attention to detail and organization.
  • Excellent ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.

  • Experience with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Google Business.
  • Experience with Airtable, Loomly and Canva are considered an asset, though not required.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
  • Some knowledge of HTML, PHP and Java Script preferred.
  • Experience with WordPress.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience with Adobe Suite programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Knowledge or experience working with Mailchimp.
  • Belongs to industry-related or professional groups.


Time Commitment:
As this is a contract position, time commitments will fluctuate based on work demands. Hours are flexible but may require specific weekday daytime/evening/weekend commitments depending on event requirements. At the discretion of Tycoon, weekly telephone update meetings may be required at times which are mutually agreeable to both Tycoon and the Contractor.


Compensation:
Compensation is an hourly rate of pay for each hour the individual spends performing the services requested by Tycoon. Please include your rate of pay expectations with your application.

Please note that as this is an independent contractor position, compensation does not include any employee-related benefits.


Conflict of Interest:
The successful candidate must not be involved in activities which would conflict in any way with their obligations to Tycoon or with Tycoon’s business activities. Any conflicts must be brought to the attention of Tycoon upon submission of the application’s expression of interest.
