Objective: On September 13th, 2021 the Stollery Women’s Network presented a virtual panel discussion with Edmonton’s mayoral candidates. This free event encompassed a 60-minute period where candidates answered questions that attendees had submitted to provide exclusive insight into what these candidates would do for children and families if elected. A focus of the discussion was to create engaging conversations around how children’s health and wellbeing are a pillar of building a truly great city. The panel discussion had a goal of 200 registrants and was available exclusively to both the Stollery Women’s Network members and Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation donors.
Outcome: This engaging panel discussion was extremely successful with an audience of 180 live stream viewers and a panel of 8 (out of 12) of Edmonton’s mayoral candidates. The registration process was completed via Crowd Change, which also allowed for the opportunity to collect donations, which amounted to $775.00 in total. Throughout the panel discussion, the moderator was able to ask engaging questions of Edmonton’s mayoral candidates. These candidates were able to attend remotely via Zoom. The audience attended via live stream using the platform Vimeo. Audience members were also able to contribute questions in real-time to the moderator via Slido. This created a live, engaging connection between the panelists and the audience. In the time since the event, the recording of the panel discussion has been viewed over 200 times.
