Why We Became Event Profs?

We recently came across this great BizBash article: Readers’ Forum: When Did You First Know You Wanted to Work in Events?

We felt inspired and so we asked our team: “Why did you get into events?”

Here is what a few of them had to say…

“Some of the first events I did were free community events like a marketplace for Diwali celebrations and large paid events, such as the Canadian Finals Rodeo. I really enjoyed those events because I got to be a part of many different cultures and see the kind of people that attended these events and create something people enjoyed. I stayed in events for the diversity of options and creative strategies you can use to bring education, joy, and learning to people.”

“I was always an event planner at heart, I just didn’t realize it! I always had very themed birthday parties as a child, and would plan out all of the decorations, activities and give my mom a detailed list of food and snacks I wanted to match the theme. I was also my high school grad president and planned our banquet and dance. I didn’t think of it as a career until one of my best friends was getting married and I helped plan her wedding. I realized – wait! – this can be a job?! I love how events bring people together and create amazing memories, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else now.”

“The creativity and imagination that comes with creating each event and seeing it through is fun! The job entails a lot of different opportunities to do different things so each day is new!”

“I love seeing the joy that events bring and while it is a lot of behind-the-scenes work it is worth it to see attendees enjoying the experience and know that we facilitated that.”
